Govt trying to restore peace, says Jamali

QUETTA, Aug 12: Prime Minster Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali has said that the terrorists involved in the imambargah attack will be punished irrespective of the suspects’ status or affiliation as no one will be allowed to disrupt law and order in the country.

Speaking at the cheque distribution ceremony to the heirs of the victims of July 4 incident at Chief Minister’s secretariat here on Tuesday, he urged that all sects should determine unity as they express such sentiments while offering prayers in Kaaba Sharif, where Muslims perform religious rituals ignoring minor differences.

Mr Jamali distributed 30 compensation cheques amounting Rs48.4m among the heirs present on this occasion.

A cheque of Rs800,000 was paid to heirs of each deceased, Rs400,000 each who suffered major injuries and Rs200,000 each who suffered minor injuries.

The PM stated that government was using the state machinery to maintain law and order to protect the lives and property of the people.

He said the federal and provincial governments have been striving hard to develop harmony amongst the people and in this regard government was not inattentive to its responsibility to ensure safety to the people and added that the terrorists by committing such crimes bringing bad name to Islam.

He said that we could not understand that when Muslims despite divided in sects perform religious rituals in Kaaba for-getting the differences then why this spirit could not be maintained in the country, saying such broadness and sentiments would strengthen our faith.

Referring to complaint by representative of affected families that he had not visited imambargah on incident day, Mir Jamali said that he had inquired about the injured in hospital and maintained that Allah knew the inner feelings of a person so he was badly disturbed by the sad incident.

He said that to give political colour to the incident would serve the interest of the anti-people and stressed that we should strive to create brotherhood, tolerance and respect the sentiments of each others religious way of life that would promote harmony and unity among us.

Earlier leader of Balochistan Shia Conference Agha Ashraf Zaidi complained that che-ques were prepared for 38 heirs of victims wherein actual death were 51 besides in overnment papers injured are shown 41 whereas the number were 95.

He said the former governor assured that sons of the affected families would be provided jobs in government departments, similarly we were told that brothers of police trainee who were killed in June 8 incident would be recruited but the promises have not been honoured that has disappointed us.
