LAHORE, Aug 10: The Punjab Workers Welfare Board will give grants for the marriage of 10,000 daughters of low-paid industrial workers during the current financial year.

Provincial Labour Minister Akhtar Husain Rizvi said this while presiding over a board meeting here on Sunday. He said a sum of Rs300 million had been allocated for marriage grants for the daughters of industrial workers.

He said each worker would be given Rs30,000 for the marriage of his daughter. An industrial worker with three-year service in one or more registered industrial units and drawing salaries up to Rs5,000 per month would be eligible for the grant. The grant would be given for the marriage of only two daughters of a worker, he said.

The minister said the PWWB would also give educational scholarships and death grants to industrial workers. Allocations for the scholarships and grants would be announced soon.
