Shaharyar slams century

KARACHI, Aug 9: Shaharyar Ghani slammed a superb hundred to powered Zone-I Whites to a massive 226-run victory over Zone-IV Blues in the KCCA Touchme Trophy inter-zonal under-17 cricket championship at Students Ground on Friday.

Shaharyar hit seven boundaries in his 118 and Irfan Ansari cracked 69 with the help of five boundaries as Zone-I Whites amassed 309 for six in their 50 overs.

Zone-IV Blues, in reply, were bundled out for 83 in 29.4 overs with off-spinner Asad Butt claiming four for 26 and slow left-armer Noman Hussain four for 19.

In another match at TMC Ground, Zone-II Whites defeated Zone-VII by 79 runs.

Zone-II Whites, batting first, made 176 for eight in 50 overs with Sarfraz Ahmed hitting 59, which included four fours.

Off-spinner Afzal Hussain captured four for 55.

Zone-VII Greens were never in the hunt and were bowled out for 97 in 45.5 overs. Moiz Ibrahim top-scored with 43.

Left-arm spinner Sajjad Mirza was pick of Zone-II Whites’ bowlers with figures of four for 32 while leg-spinner Amanullah conceded only three runs in picking up three wickets.
