Giyal blast probe begins

GILGIT, Aug 9: The inquiry officer appointed by the Northern Areas chief court to investigate into the Giyal village blast which killed 49 and injured 150 people has started proceedings.

Diamer deputy commissioner said on Saturday that the inquiry officer, Raja Jalaluddin, visited the site and recorded the statements of the local people and officials of the administration and the Northern Areas public works department.

He said the inquiry officer took the record of the NAPWD relating to the contractor in whose house the explosion occurred into custody for further investigation.—APP
