KARACHI: Man dies in accident

KARACHI, Aug 8: A young man died in a road traffic accident in Malir on Friday.

Police said that a pedestrian, Abdul Rasheed, was knocked down to death by a speeding truck in the limits of Sukkan police station. The body was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. However, the errant truck driver escaped from the spot following the accident, police added.

BODY FOUND: A decomposed body was fished out from a storm water drain in Malir on Friday.

Edhi sources, said that the body was at least 15 to 20 days old and decomposed beyond identification. The body was shifted to the JPMC for post-mortem examination.

Later, it was handed over to the Edhi Foundation for burial, sources added.

ELECTROCUTED: A young man died of electrocution in Malir on Friday. Police said that Naseer Ahmed, 25, was fixing the electric motor attached to a water pump at an eating house in Shah Latif Town, when he got electrocuted.

Police said that victim was a resident of Yousaf goth and was waiter at the eating house, where he was repairing the motor. The body was shifted to the JPMC for post-mortem examination.

SHOT DEAD: A man was shot dead in Nazimabad by unidentified persons on Friday night.

Police said that Mohammad Shoaib Khan, 40, was standing near the bus stop of Nazimabad No-6, when unknown persons on a motorcycle shot at him and fled. The victim was rushed to the nearby Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Till filing of this report, police could not ascertain the motive behind the murder.
