BADIN, Aug 7: Sindh Inspector General Syed Kamal Shah has deplored the recent killing of a villager by the police near here and announced Rs100,000 compensation for the heirs of the dead man.

He also announced that two members of the family of deceased Hasan Lashari would be provided jobs in the police and justice would be ensured in the case.

The IG was talking to Mohammad Soomar, the brother of Mr Hasan, in their village Hamzo Lashari Goth 34km off here on Wednesday after offering Fateha for the departed soul and condolence with Mr Soomar.

Mr Hasan was shot dead by a policeman who opened fire on a group of rain victims trying to get relief goods from a truck in an undisciplined way near the Sar Anjam bus stop in Walhari area on Monday last.

Mr Shah handed over a truck of relief goods to Mr Soomar for distributing among the rain-affected people in his locality.

He also inspected a medical camp in Kadhan established by the Badin district police and distributed relief goods among the rain victims.

Earlier, he told journalists at the DPO office here that the Sindh police had deposited one-day salary of the force amounting to Rs10.3 million in relief fund.
