GUJRANWALA, Aug 2: At least six people died of cholera on Saturday as the epidemic broke out in Kamoki and Tetley while dozens of others were admitted to different hospitals.

Dozens of people, including children, with cholera have reportedly been admitted to the Kamoki Civil Hospital and private clinics. The dead have been identified as Asima Mushtaq, Natasha, Zarina, Yousaf, Bashir and Muhammad Din.

It is reported that the hospital staff was facing acute shortage of medicine. Doctors at the Civil Hospital advised people to avoid taking stale food and fruit and use boiled water.

Meanwhile, the tehsil administrations have taken measures to control the epidemic.

NOTICES: The city tehsil council issued on Saturday notices to the owners of all dilapidated building to get their houses repaired otherwise these would be demolished.

According to official sources, teams of the city tehsil council prepared the list of around 200 dilapidated buildings after a detailed survey. The list was presented to City Nazim Babu Javed Ahmad who directed that the owners of the dilapidated buildings should be issued notices, giving them last chance to get their houses repaired.

SUICIDE: An FA student committed suicide by shooting himself on failing in the examination in Pero Chak on Saturday.

Muhammad Sohail took FA annual examinations but was declared fail in the results announced by the education board the other day. He shot himself dead in dejection.
