LARKANA, Aug 2: The recent torrential rains have brought the civic life in villages of the Khirthar range to a standstill and the area is cut off from Kambar and Shahdadkot.

This was said by DCO Sabhago Khan Jatoi, who visited affected areas in Kambar and Shahdadkot towns on Saturday.

He said routes connecting Khirthar range villages with Kambar and Shahdadkot were submerged by rainwater. He said efforts were underway to drain out the water and restore the routes.

He said a survey conducted to assess the damage caused by rain had revealed that 10 people had died in the Larkana district.

He said the district government had also initiated a survey to estimate the losses so that the people whose houses were damaged could be provided with compensation. He said after the survey was completed a comprehensive plan would be submitted to the government to seek financial assistance to rehabilitate the affected families.
