U-19 cricketer continues hunger strike

By Our Correspondent

HYDERABAD, July 30: Vice-president Sindh Cricket Association (SCA) Dr Makhdoom Rafiquz Zaman on Wednesday began inquiry into the controversy surrounding under-19 cricketer Abid Qureshi, who was slapped three-month ban by District Cricket Association (DCA) Hyderabad.

The youngster was seen by the SCA official but his request to give the details of the case in writing was turned down and a verbal hearing took place.

Later the SCA official declared that he would call DCA secretary Faheem Baig Mughal for personal hearing to seek his side of story and only after hearing the stories of the both sides he would put forward his recommendsations to the PCB.

Meanwhile, young wicketkeeper Shafique Qureshi continued his hunger strike against his expulsion from PCB’s Regional Academy at Rani Bagh.

He started his protest after playing two matches of Hyderabad district in U-19 cricket championship on the same documents which, according to him, chief coach of the academy, Azeem Hafeez and assistant coach, Hafeezur Rehman had refused to accept.
