Karachi Port operations

KARACHI, July 30: Berthing activity at the Karachi Port on Wednesday was maintained on the higher side as the agencies tried to clear the inward rush of foreign flag vessels, according to KPT sources.

As a result, all the new arrivals as well as those awaiting berths off-port were toed to the vacant berths. The seven ships, which were berthed included Sinar Bangka, Orient Stride, Global Progress, Kota Waruna and Oxford, which will unload and load containers, Mariy Ann to unload highspeed diesel and Astrea to load naphtha.

Four ships, Kota Waruna, Kwang Tng, Sorena and Nur al-Jubial departed on Wednesday, while Mariy Ann, Global Progress, Astrea, Hyundai Stride and Gao He are due to sail out on Thursday.

Owing to steady berthing, total tonnage handled rose to 75,236 tons comprising 29,698 tons of export cargo and 45,538 tons of import tonnage.

The following ships are due on Thursday: Al-Manakh, with containers, Dooyang Victor, with steel scrap and Indradi, with chemicals.
