Two U-19 players continue protest

By Our Correspondent

HYDERABAD, July 29: Two Hyderabad Under-19 players continued their hunger strike before the Press Club on Tuesday to protest the injustices allegedly committed against them by District Cricket Association (DCA) officials and chief coach and his deputy of PCB’s Regional Academy Rani Bagh Hyderabad.

Former U-19 captain and wicketkeeper Shafique Qureshi was protesting against his expulsion from the six week Regional Academy whereas Abid Qureshi was contesting the 3-months ban on him by DCA officials for playing for the district or any registered cricket club of the city.

Meanwhile, vice president Sindh Cricket Association (SCA) Dr Makhdoom Rafik Zaman, who is also the Zila Nazim of Hyderabad has called Abid Qureshi to begin inquiry into his matter to ascertain causes leading to what the boy said unjustified and illegal ban on him.

The SCA vice president has been appointed inquiry officer by PCB. Abid would appear before Mr Zaman on Wednesday.
