RAWALPINDI, July 29: The Islami Tehrik-i-Pakistan chief and Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal central vice president, Allama Syed Sajid Ali Naqvi, has said there is urgent need for setting up an emergency relief fund for coping with devastations caused by the torrential rains and floods in Sindh and other provinces.
He said heavy losses caused owing to the recent spell of rains and floods and the destruction of hundreds of livestock besides damages to houses caused sufferings to the poor.
He said it aroused fears that the poor people of the rain and flood affected areas would fall prey to poverty while the overall economic well-being of the country as a whole would be destabilized.
Allama Naqvi said to cope with the situation thus created, the government and masses would have to deal with the situation by joining hands together.
The MMA leader said all the damages could be overcome through the establishment of a relief fund.
The Allama asked Islami Tehrik activists to extend their cooperation for improving the situation.
