Two awarded 55-year term each

QUETTA, July 29: Sessions Court Judge Raja Jawaid Abbass convicted two accused on Tuesday in murder, rape and unnatural act cases and awarded 55-year imprisonment with Rs10,000 fine each.

Abdul Wasay and Sadiqullah were accused of rape, unnatural act and killing of an eight-year-old girl, Sharifa, in the year 2000.

When the prosecution proved the charges against the two, the judge sentenced them to 25-year imprisonment for murder, 20 years for rape and 10 years for unnatural act along with Rs10,000 fine each.

In another case, Judge Attiqur Rehman of the anti-corruption court acquitted former excise minister Mir Abdul Karim Nausherwani in a bribery case.

Meanwhile, Balochistan High Court Chief Justice Raja Fayyaz Ahmed and Justice Akhtar Zaman Malghani have reserved the judgment in a suo motu notice against the release of former irrigation minister Haji Behram Khan Achakzai from the central jail, Machh, in a corruption reference.
