Sikandar condemns Indian shelling

By Our Staff Correspondent

MUZAFFARABAD, July 29: AJK Prime Minister Sardar Sikandar Hayat Khan has strongly condemned indiscriminate Indian shelling on civilian populations along the heavily militarized Line of Control.

“There is no let up in Indian shelling that daily kills and injures the innocent civilians of Azad Kashmir,” said the premier in a statement, which came in the wake of killing of five people in two sectors of Azad Jammu & Kashmir in Indian shelling on Sunday.

“The international organizations should take stock of India’s provocative actions and use their good offices to prevent New Delhi from targeting the civilians,” Mr Khan said.

He, however, made it clear that despite resorting to such cowardice tactics, the Indian army could neither frighten the valiant people of AJK nor restrain them from supporting their freedom-seeking brethren across the LoC.

Meanwhile, the AJK prime minister told a delegation that he would personally visit the districts of Poonch and Bagh next month to see for himself the problems confronting the residents of border areas.
