DADU, July 28: Some 150 houses of fishermen in villages around the Manchhar Lake have collapsed during the rains.

The lake has been receiving water from Nain Gaj and ten other streams. On Monday, its water level rose to 113 feet.

The houses of the fishermen collapsed in Solamiani, Tehani, Shah Hassan and other villages located in the catchment area of the lake.

A villager of Solamiani, Anwar Mallah, told this correspondent that swelling lake was posing a threat to several other villages.

He lamented that no one had come to help them. He said that they were facing shortage of medicines and food. He said that the water of the lake was still brackish.

A fisherman of Teghani, Zaman Mallah, said that the government should provide them boats for fishing.
