Sialkot jail thoroughly combed

SIALKOT, July 28: All male and female prisoners of the Sialkot District Jail were thoroughly searched by the jail authorises during a grand operation on Sunday night.

The operation comes in wake of a chief minister’s order of combing jails throughout the province to find arms and other banned items, if any.

It was learnt that jail authorities also searched bags of flour, coal and rice.

Meanwhile, scores of visitors were not allowed to see their relatives confined in the jail for the third consecutive day on Monday.

DETAINED: Jail superintendent Ch Sikandar Hayat, deputy superintendent Iftikhar and 10 other officials of the jail have been detained at the official residence of the jail superintendent, which has been besieged by the elite force.
