PESHAWAR, July 28: The Peshawar High Court on Monday dismissed bail application of a person accused of killing his wife.

The accused-applicant, Mohammad Khan, was charged with killing his wife by electrocuting her. He claimed that his wife died accidentally.

A single bench of the court comprising Justice Fazalur Rehman observed that due to evidence on record the accused-applicant was not entitled to bail.

The deceased, Sadia, had died on June 24. Mohammad Khan, a resident of Peerbala area, told police that Sadia fell on an electric heater and died when she received electric shock.

The family members of the deceased woman, however, disputed his claim and informed the police that he had intentionally killed her. They claimed that he was not treating her well and had been constantly forcing her to allow him to contract second marriage. They claimed that before her death Sadia had informed them about the entire story and apprehended that something might happened to her.

The applicant’s counsel argued that there was no evidence which could connect his involvement with the death of his wife. He maintained that it was a case of no evidence.

BAIL REJECTED: The additional district and sessions judge, Peshawar, Shehbar Khan, on Monday turned down bail plea of two alleged drug pushers.

The court observed that narcotics was recovered from the machinery which belonged to them.

The applicants, Mohammad Farooq and Fazal Wadud, were arrested on June 29, after 866kg of charas was recovered from a machinery at Peshawar Dry Port.
