Chitral budget yet to be passed

By Our Correspondent

CHITRAL, July 28: The annual budget of Chitral district council could not be passed on the second day on Saturday as seven members staged a walkout from the house, protesting that salaries for road coolies in their constituencies had not been provided for in the budget.

Following the walkout, convener Saleem Khan adjourned the house due to lack of quorum.

Later, some members tried to make a provision for the salaries of the coolies by curtailing the funds proposed for sports, tourism and entertainment but the protesting members announced a hunger strike for the acceptance of their demand.
