Arms seized

By Our Staff Correspondent

QUETTA, July 28: Customs officials have seized a large cache of arms from the border area in Chaghai district on Monday.

Sources said that Customs officials raided a hideout of outlaws and seized a large quantity of arms and ammunition smuggled from across the border and dumped there, but no arrest could be made as the smugglers had escaped before the operation.

NGOs moot: The Pakistan NGOs’ Forum has opposed sending of troops to Iraq and said that meddling in its internal affairs would affect the brotherly relations between the countries.

In resolutions adopted at a two-day meeting of its executive council at Ziarat, the forum also demanded an impartial inquiry into the July 4 attack on a mosque in the provincial capital.

According to a statement issued here on Sunday, the participants stressed that the government should take steps to save the Juniper forest in Ziarat valley.

The forum’s secretary, Khawar Mumtaz, presided over the meeting.
