HYDERABAD, July 28: The chairmen of district public safety commissions of different areas of Sindh on Sunday decided to form a coordination committee to take up problems being faced by the DPSCs.
The decision was taken at a meeting held here at the office of the Hyderabad DPSC in the district council building.
Those who attended the meeting included chairman of the DPSC, Hyderabad, Masood Pervez, Dilshad Shah of Thatta, Dr Niaz Chandio of Larkana, Zafar Mangrio, nominated as representative by Sukkur DPSC chairman and members of the Hyderabad commission.
A threadbare discussion was held on the problems as well as issues concerning six DPSCs of Sindh.
A member of the Hyderabad DPSC told this correspondent that the problems mostly pertained to lack of coordination, availability of funds, staff and offices of the commissions.
He said the issues would be taken up with the government.
Mr Pervez said that the representatives of other DPSCs had been asked to forward names for the coordination committee and members of the rest of the districts where the commissions were not yet constituted would be included in the provincial coordination committee. The members would elect the chairman and vice-chairman of the coordination committee, he added.
He said that the coordination committees in Balochistan and Punjab had also been formed and in the NWFP, the commissions were yet to be constituted.
He added that the National Coordination Committee of the DPSCs with two members each from Sindh, Punjab and Balochistan also had been formed.
