CAIRNS, July 27: ICC match referee Mike Procter will return home to South Africa following the death of his father, officials said on Sunday.
The former Test all-rounder was the ICC match referee for the first two days of play in the second Test in Cairns.
“Procter will not take any further part in the match and will be replaced for the remaining days of the test by former Australian all-rounder and current Cricket Australia Code of Behaviour Commissioner Ron Archer,” Cricket Australia said in a statement.
Archer, who played 19 Tests from 1952-1957, was appointed to the interim position by Queensland Cricket at the request of Cricket Australia, with the selection sanctioned by the ICC.—Reuters
