ABBOTTABAD, July 27: A three-day training workshop on environmental education concluded at Changla Gali here on Saturday.

The workshop focussed on sensitizing the participants on key concepts, issues and latest environmental education techniques to prevent environmental degradation. Some 41 women schoolteachers from the Galiat region attended the workshop.

The workshop was held to allow teachers to refine their capabilities, enabling them to infuse environmental concepts in their teaching assignments.

In interactive sessions, Zohra Rehmat Ali of the IUCN shared information on global, national and local environmental issues. She defined key environmental concepts through case studies.

Dedicated sessions were held on natural resource management, environment and development, biodiversity and waste management related matters.

The participants were shown a documentary “Greening our future” which sums up major national-level environmental challenges and their impact on ecosystem and livelihood.

The workshop was part of the series of environmental education training organized by the Environmental Rehabilitation in NWFP and Punjab (ERNP) under its environmental education initiatives.
