PESHAWAR, July 27: The killing of three persons here in Rashid Town area of Gulbahar Colony has become a mystery as what police officials claim about the latest findings in a triple-murder case were contradicted by the family of a victim.

Reports say some unknown persons entered the house of Ziaud Din in Rashid Town on Thursday and killed his 21-year-old son Samirud Din alias Sani, his friend and neighbour Imran Riaz, son of late Prof Riaz Ahmad, and a watchman, Changez Khan, son of Nawab, and took away over Rs1 million.

The police officials said Mr Samir and Mr Imran were killed with the strokes of heavy clubs and sharp-edged weapons while Changez was strangulated to death.

They said when the police broke the main door of the house late on Thursday night, they found some pieces of roasted chickens, breads and empty soft drink bottles.

They suspected that Mr Samir was acquainted with the killers who knew that Samir had sold his car and the money was in the house.

The investigation officials claimed that Samir had developed relations with many girls in the city and doubted that someone from their families might be involved in the murder.

But Ziaud Din, father of Samir, who came to Pakistan the other day to attend the funeral of his son, told a press conference here on Sunday that the boy had no enmity with anyone and could not confirm that it was a dacoity incident. He also denied Samir’s affair with any girl in the city.

Mr Zia said he had full confidence in the ability of police investigation team and soon they would arrest the real culprits, but denied to provide any further information in the incident.

According to the police officials, Mr Samir had changed four watchmen of the house in the last six months, which also posed a question on the activities of the victim.

The police has begun interrogating the friends of Samir and arrested a watchman Noor Mohammad alias Makoo who was sacked by the deceased some six months back.
