KARACHI, July 26: Talha Dar and Anil Das forced their entry into the semi-final in the Juniors Doubles, of the Karachi Club Open Sindh Ranking Championship, toppling third seeds Asghar Bandeali and Ali Mohsin Bhagat in three sets on the cement courts at the Karachi Club.
After dropping the first hard fought set to their seeded opponents, Talha and Anil with some fine cross court and backhand shots, picked up the next two sets and the match 5-7, 6-2, 6-1.
Rain, the main scourge of this tournament, continued to fall on the seventh day also. Second seed Jalal Khan, ranked sixth in the National Rankings, swept past top junior Adnan Khan in two straight sets.
Many spectators braced themselves for a nerve tingling match, but this was not to be.
Jalal from the word go went on the attack and brushed aside his opponent6-1, 6-2. Jalal awaits to take on the winner in the second semi-final between Khalid Ali Nazar and Wang Xiao Ping, whose match was washed out by rain.
Jalal is also participating in the Davis Cup trials which begins in Lahore from July 29.
Rain fell throughout the day, forcing the other semifinal matches and the Under-14 final to be postponed.
