PESHAWAR, July 26: Additional District and Sessions Judge Fazal Sattar on Friday visited Central Jail Peshawar and ordered the release of 23 prisoners convicted for minor crimes.
The judge visited various jail barracks and inquired about facilities being provided to prisoners there.
The judge also visited kitchen of the jail and checked the quality of food. The prisoners on the occasion while talking to the judge expressed their satisfaction over the quality of food and others facilities being provided to them in the jail.
According to APP, those released are: Gul Sher, Niamat, Gul Akbar, Zarmin, Mubashar Khan, Gul Wali, Nayab, Arshad, Riasat, Shahzad Akbar, Mukamil Shah, Noor Khan, Ghulam Rafiq, Zar Khan, Dado, Tariq, Inayat-ur-Rehman, Israf, Abidullah, Ghulam Nabi, Maroof Shah and Kachkol.
BAIL GRANTED: The additional district and sessions judge, Sardar Mohammad Irshad on Saturday granted bail to a person accused of possessing illegal weapons and drug pushing.
The court directed that the accused-applicant, Ayaz Ali, should be released after furnishing two sureties of Rs 100,000 each.
The accused was arrested on July 6 after a police party raided his residence in Tehkal. The FIR was registered by University Town police station.
The police claimed that they had prior tip about presence of an outlaw, Safiullah, in the said premises. They raided the residence, but the outlaw was not there. However, the police claimed that th inmates of the residence started firing at them.
The police alleged that Ayaz was involved in the firing. The police allegedly recovered six kilograms of charas, two Klashnikovs and four hand grenades from the residence.
Advocate for the applicant and argued that two of the brothers of the applicant had been absconding in the same case. He contended that it was a case of further inquiry as it was not clear which of the brothers was involved in firing at the police.
About the recovery of narcotics, Mr Khan argued that it was a concocted case as the report of Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) was also not provided by the police. He contended that if the narcotics was recovered then why it was not sent for chemical examination.—Bureau
