KARACHI, July 25: Wang Xiao Ping, moved into the semifinals of the Karachi Club Open Sindh Ranking Tennis Championship, but not before being extended by second seeded Hammad Shoaib, in three hard fought sets at the Karachi Club on Friday.
Wang took the first set 6-3, but Hammad fought back to level the scores 1-1, grabbing the second set 4-6. But Wang booked his place in the semifinals winning the final set 6-2.
In the longest match of the championship Ali Asghar Bandeali beat Talha Dar 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 which lasted three hours and 40 minutes to book his place in the final of boys singles U-14.
In the final set, the two raced neck and neck and both players had match points in their favour, but Bandeali finally came through a worthy winner.
