Peshawar emerge group A leader


PESHAWAR, July 25: Peshawar emerged on top from group A by securing 27 points in the Inter-district Under-19 cricket tournament played at various centre in the province.

With two victories and first innings lead against FATA in the drawn match, Peshawar took top position in the five teams group-A. The other teams included Swabi, FATA, Mansehra, and Chitral.

FATA remained at third position with only six points on board after playing three drawn matches against Manshera, Chitral and Swabi and only got first innings lead against Manshera, and Chitral.

Peshawar, a winner of group A, will now face the winners of group B and C.D.I. Khan got top position in the group B and Haripur become the lead in the pool C.

The next round will be starting from today (Saturday) as all the matches will be played on Gymkhana Cricket ground. Iqbal Butt, Hakeem Shah, Sajjad Asghar, Muhammad Nawaz and Naushad Khan

Earlier, Swabi got three points against FATA in the drawn clash held at Gymkhana Cricket ground for securing 46 runs lead in the first innings.

Winning the toss, Swabi invited FATA to bat first. But due to dismal performance of FATA batsmen Swabi got 46 runs lead in the first innings.

Fata 95 om 40.1 overs (Noor Muhammad 19, Arif Khan 18;Muhammad Fayyaz Ali 5-30, Habib Shah 3-27); and 180 (Alam Khan 62, Mukhtiar Bahadar 24 n.o.);

Swabi 141 (Habib Shah 38, Ismail Zabi Ullah 46, Zafar Ali Shah 30; Muhammad Gufran 4-28); and 87 for six wickets.
