Asia Cup semifinals washed out


KARACHI, July 25: Both the semifinals in Asian Youth Cricket Championship were washed out without a being bowled Friday because of persistent rains in the city.

Weather permitting the semifinals will be played on reserved day, Saturday.

At the National Stadium, match between Nepal and Kuwait was called off after lunch break by umpires Mian Aslam and Islam Khan because wet conditions of the pitch.

Covers were still on because of drizzling in the afternoon.

Similarly, at Quaid-i-Azam Park, Pakistan Steel Town no play was possible in the semifinal between Malaysia and Qatar.

Umpires Saleem Badar and Asad Rauf also called off the match at lunch break because of soggy conditions of the outfield.

If semifinals could not be decided even on Saturday, teams with better run-rate will progress in final.

Meanwhile a Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) official said that in case final is also disturbed because of rains, winner of the event will also be decided on a better run-rate.

He also clarified that only one team from among the associate member of ACC will appear in the World Youth Cricket Cup in Bangladesh early next year.

In case if semifinals and final are washed away than favorites Nepal is certain to make to the World Youth Cup.—APP
