ISLAMABAD, July 25: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Friday issued notices to seal 10 private schools in sectors F- 8 and I-10 for non-conforming use of residential buildings, a source in the CDA told Dawn.
He said the deputy commissioner of the CDA had already served notices on the owners of these schools and after non- compliance of his orders, the directorate of municipal administration (DMA) ordered the sealing of the schools.
He said the authority had started an operation against private schools and issued a one-week notice to the owners of over 10 private institutions, directing them to remove their setup otherwise their respective buildings would be sealed.
The source said sealing notices were also being served on those private schools violating building laws of the CDA.
There are more than 400 private educational institutions in Islamabad out of which only 102 schools are registered.
The source said the deputy commissioner under section 49-C of the CDA Ordinance-1960 had served show cause notices on at least 200 private schools established in the residential areas.
He said the court had directed the DMA to take action against violators for not complying with the final show cause notices.
Answering a question, he said the Islamabad Private School Management was demanding specific plots near Tarnol in Zone-IV to shift these institutions.
The source said the CDA had also decided to launch an operation against guest houses and other businesses being run in residential sectors.
