Nisar grabs 3 golds as Lahore triumph


RIASALPUR (District Nowshera), July 23: Four Corps Lahore clinched Army swimming title securing 134 points in various events held at Swimming Pool of Engineering Centre Risalpur on Wednesday.

Two-Corps of Multan grabbed second position with 112 points and 12 Corps of Quetta got third position by recording 75 points.

Promising Nisar Ahmed did his best and was rewarded with three gold medals and one silver for Two Corps.

Nisar’s first gold medal came in the 100 meters butterfly clocking 1.02.93 seconds, followed by Nk Akhtar Hussain of 4 Corps with the time 1.04.93 seconds and Nk Tilat Shah of 11 Corps with his time 1.04.60 seconds took third spot.

Next Nisar snatched 200 meters backstroke event. He swam the distance in 2.31.91sec; followed by L/NK Ghulam Murtaza of the 2 Corps with a time 2.35.00 sec and L/NK Abdul Majeed of 12 Corps with a time 2.37.03 sec.

Nisar completed his hat trick of golds winning 400 meters individual medly. He clocked 5.15.35sec. He was followed by Muhammad Zameer of 11 Corps at second and Ahmed Khan of 4 Corps at third.

He later came second in 200 meter backstroke won by Faiz Muhammad of national team, hailing from 4 Corps while Ghulam Murtaza took third position.

Nk Muhammad Ismail of 1 Corps bettered Army record in the 50 meters breaststroke. He clocked 0.33.34sec and was was closely followed by Shaumail Khan of 5 Corps who timed 0.33.87sec and L/Nk Abdul Waheed of 2 Corps with a time 0.33.91sec.

Muhammad Ibrahim of 4 Corps also created new Army record in the 200 meters butterfly with a record time of 2.22.00sec; he was followed by Akhtar Hussain of 4 Corps with his time 2.25.16sec and Talat Shah of 2 with a time of 2.31.28sec.—APP
