BADIN, July 23: Officials of 15 cricket clubs of Badin district have demanded of District Coordination Officer (DCO) and president District Cricket Association (DCA) Badin, to dissolve present body of DCA and hold new elections.
In a joint statement issued on Wednesday the officials said that ban should also be imposed on DCA Badin playing matchces by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
Accusing secretary DCA Badin, Farooq Rustamani of mismanagement of cricket affairs, captains Zahid Qazi (City Cricket Club), Munawar Lashari (Sindh Eleven Cricket Club), Pervez Ahmed (Young Cricket Club) and others alleged on account of favouritism and irregularities in selection of team for Under-19, the association did not even inform about trials.
Club officials claimed that the secretary was serving in National Bank of Pakistan and had no time for cricket activities which is evident from the fact that he had sent Badin team without coach and vice captain to participate in U-19 tournament.
They said that as many as 1000 talented cricket players were available in Badin but secretary was favouring only Matli Club thus depriving other players of other clubs.
The officials added that for the last three years after formation of district sides by PCB, Badin district team failed to win any tournament resulting in relegation to Grade-III.
They demanded imposition of ban on Badin DCA team for participating in provincial tournaments as the secretary was selecting those players who had under performed. They said that out of 16 players, 11 players of Matli were selected while only five of them belonged to Badin city due to partisan attitude of secretary.
They alleged that Farooq Rustmani has been secretary of DCA for the last 10 years and warned that if secretary was not removed, none of players would participate in Quaid-i-Azam Trophy tournament.
