CHITRAL, July 23: The centenary celebrations of Chitral Scouts, a component of the Frontier Corps, started here on Wednesday, which will continue for a week.

NWFP Governor Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah inaugurated the celebrations.

Addressing the scouts on this occasion, he said the FC played a commendable job in defending the geographical frontiers of the country and fighting terrorism and the drug menace.

He said the Chitral Scouts enjoyed a glorious history of valour and bravery, and always stood up whenever the motherland demanded sacrifice.

He cited the examples of the achievements of the force in the liberation of Kashmir in 1948 and then in Kargil recently.
