PM orders inquiry into Moro rape case
KARACHI, July 23: Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali has taken immediate action into the Moro rape case by ordering an inquiry against the Moro police officials involved in the case.
The home secretary, Sindh, has instructed in writing that the protection should be provided to the lives and property of the aggrieved family and action be taken against the culprits irrespective of their status and connections.
A report regarding it may be submitted to the Prime Minister Secretariat by July 25.
According to the father of the victimized girl, Rustam Ali, some four months back, one Haji Nazeer brought the proposal of his son, Mohammad Tariq Arain, for his daughter but he refused. In sheer vengeance, they kidnapped his daughter, Razia, on April 11 and took her to Karachi where she was brutally raped.
The Moro police took Rs11,000 for lodging an FIR. Then the police recovered the girl but kept her for four days and again raped her during the custody at some unknown place.
According to the latest information, some unknown people tried to kidnap Razia’s elder sister from her village.
Rustam Ali appealed the chief justice of the Sindh High Court to take suo motu action in the case and order shifting it from ordinary court to the Anti-Terrorism Court, Karachi.
The office-bearers of Lawyers for Human Rights and Legal Aid, along with Rustam Ali, demanded the arrest of the culprits and shifting of the case from ordinary court to the Anti-Terrorism Court in Karachi.
The parents of the girl appealed the president and the prime minister to take immediate action and provide justice and protection to the family.—PPI
