KARACHI, July 23: The Jamaat-i-Islami has contended that Kashmiri freedom fighters were engaged in Jihad and that Pakistani people would never withdraw support to them in their time of distress.
Speaking at a public meeting in Shah Faisal Colony, city chief of JI Dr Mairajul Huda Siddiqui said that Kashmiri people had not accepted Indian occupation despite being subjected to brutalities by the occupation forces and sacrificing about 80,000 lives.
“Despite US opposition, Pakistanis will continue to back Kashmiri people who are engaged in the armed struggle against occupation forces,” he declared and said that Kashmiri fighters were, in fact, fighting for the defence of Pakistan.
Although the government has stopped recognizing the struggle by Kashmiri Mujahideen as freedom movement, whole world is aware that the people of Kashmir are opposed to the Indian occupation of their land and the world community will continue to extend its support to the independence of Kashmir, the JI leader observed. — PPI
