KARACHI, July 23: Emergency efforts will be made to complete the ongoing work of cleaning storm water drains under the supervision of city government from July 25, after obtaining the relevant information from all towns administrations.
This was decided in a meeting, chaired by District Coordination Officer (DCO) Mir Hussain Ali, on Wednesday. The meeting was attended by Chief Controller of Buildings, Brig (Retd) A.S. Nasir, EDO Works, Brig (Retd) Zaheer Qadri, TMOs, officials of water and sanitation board and other departments.
The meeting decided to make coordinated efforts for cleaning all the major drains of the metropolis.
The Town Municipal Officers were directed to submit a report to the DCO with existing details of work being done along with their proposals for making the efforts more effective.
It was decided that the Cantonment Board, Pakistan Railways and Karachi Port Trust would be contacted for cleaning of the drains passing through their jurisdictions.
The meeting also reviewed the cleaning of drains falling into sea.
It was decided that steps would be taken to facilitate the drop of water into sea.
The DCO asked the concerned officials to review the related details for preparation of location and route plans of these drains.—APP
