KARACHI: Housewife shot dead by relative

KARACHI, July 23: A housewife was shot dead allegedly by her relative in her house in Keamari on Wednesday.

Police said that Sabzole, 40, wife of Wali Mohammad was at home along with her two children Asma, 6, and Abdul Hukum, 7, when her nephew barged into their house in Gulshan-i-Sikandarbad and shot her. The assailant escaped after opening the fire, police added.

The victim was shifted to the Civil Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police said that at the time of attack, Sabzole’s husband had gone out for work. Police were investigating the case, but suspected some personal enmity as a possible motive behind the killing.

Another young woman was shot dead by her paramour in Shah Faisal Colony on Wednesday.

Police said that Mohammad Ali killed Jameela, 30, wife of Abdul Qadir, at a house in Shah Faisal Colony No-4. The house was owned by Sameena alias Naina, who used to provide place to couples, police added.

Police said that Sameena called Jameela to her house and informed Mohammad Ali that she had come at her place. Mohammad Ali reached her house, shot Jameela with his pistol and escaped.

However, the police caught him at a short distance from the house. The body of Jameela was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for post-mortem examination.

Police are investigating the case to ascertain the motive behind the killing.

BODY PARTS FOUND: The head and arms of an unidentified young woman were recovered from a storm water drain of commercial avenue in Gizri on Wednesday.

Police said the body parts were packed in a plastic bag, which was spotted flowing the nullah. Somebody informed the police on its helpline 15 about the presence of body parts in the nullah, said a duty officer of the Gizri police station.

Police shifted the body parts to the JPMC for examination. It is believed that the body parts were several days old.

ACCIDENTS: A retired army officer died in a road traffic accident in PECHS on Wednesday morning.

Police said that Maj (Retd) Shahbaz Khan, 58, and his driver Aurangzeb were seriously injured, when their car (ACH-931) rammed into a stationary minibus on Sharea Faisal in the limits of Ferozabad police station.

Both the injured were taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where Shahbaz Khan was pronounced dead on arrival while his driver was admitted for treatment.

In another accident, an unidentified young man was crushed to death beneath a locomotive near Drigh Road railway junction. His body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for post-mortem examination.

PRISONER DIES: A prisoner under treatment at the Civil Hospital died on Wednesday morning.

Hospital sources said that a prisoner Moosa, having Tanzanian nationality, was brought to the Civil Hospital late on Tuesday night from the central jail by the jail police. However, he died around 4am at the hospital.

NEWSMAN ROBBED: A staffer of Dawn was deprived of cash and belongings at Seaview in Clifton.

Staff reporter Tahir Siddiqui had gone to the beach with his family on Tuesday night. They locked their car and went to the beach. When they returned after an hour, the family found a mobile phone set, Rs1,800 and the NIC of his wife, Mrs Kaneez Jillani, missing from the handbag. Tahir said he had parked his car where an armed police constable was strolling, but an official of Darakhshan police station later told him that there was no policeman posted at the beach.
