ISLAMABAD, July 22: The Federal Service Tribunal (FST) has ordered regularization of 300 employees of the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) working in different branches in the country on daily wages basis.

The NBP employees, most of whom are godown keepers, godown watchmen, assistant typists and drivers, had been working on daily wages for a long time and were stationed at Karachi, Quetta, Multan, Bahawalpur, Islamabad and Lahore.

They filed appeals in the FST through senior advocate Shoaib Shaheen and the hearing started on February 22 when FST Members, Abdur Razaq and Abdur Rashid Balooch, reserved their judgment in the case.

On Tuesday, the judgment was announced, which observed that ‘gross injustice’ had been meted out to these employees, who had been working in the bank for the last 20 years but were denied the facilities and benefits enjoyed by the regular employees.

The judgment directed the authority concerned to regularize all these employees no matter if there had been ‘service breaks’ in their careers. The tribunal also ordered to reinstate the employees with all the back benefits and dues.
