The NHMP educated 57,834 road users on Motorway and over 1.4 million on highways about the traffic laws, disciplines and road safety issues.

It says 20 fatal and 56 non-fatal accidents were reported on National Highway and Motorway, which were 48.72 per cent less than recorded in the previous month. The main cause of these accidents on the Motorway was the dozing drivers and bursting of tyres and on the National Highways the negligence/carelessness of drivers especially the truck drivers, it says.
The report says that car drivers were the main violators on the Motorway and most of them were fined for speeding. Whereas the truck drivers were the main violators on National Highway and the violation was of improper lane usage.
Meanwhile, Ziaul Haq Khan, the inspector general NHMP, appreciated the performance of the officers of National Highways and Motorway police. He also requested the people not to use the wornout tyres in their vehicles as this was the major cause of the road accidents.
