SOUTH WAZIRISTAN, July 21: A large number of students took out a protest rally and blocked the main Makeen road against the kidnapping of a student here on Monday.

The protesters placed heavy boulders on the road and put tyres to fire blocking the road for all kinds of traffic for three hours.

Ziauddin, a student of class 9 at the Government High School Shakarkot, was kidnapped and taken to Shawol by some unidentified men. The kidnappers had demanded Rs250,000 for the boy’s release.

On Monday, hundreds of students of the school came out on the road and blocked the main chowk in Makeen in South Waziristan Agency, demanding the unconditional release of their colleague.

Later the  protesters dispersed when they were assured by political tehsildar Sultan Mahsud and president of Tehrik-i- Naujawanan South Waziristan Khair Badshah Mahsud that the kidnapped student would be released within two days.
