ISLAMABAD, July 21: Finance Minister Shaukat Aziz said on Monday that the government was according top priority to the development of the agriculture sector, which contributed 26 per cent to the Gross Domestic Product and employed 44 per cent of the country’s manpower.

Talking Sindh Agriculture Minister Arif Mustafa Jatoi, who called on him, Mr Aziz said the country’s industry was also dependent on agriculture.

He said Prime Minister Jamali and his government were keen to promote agriculture for economic growth and development in the country. The minister called for coordinated efforts by the provinces to supplement the efforts of the federal government for development of agriculture.—APP
