LAHORE, July 19: A card of six events has been drawn by the Lahore Race Club for the Gymkhana races to be held at the Racecourse on Sunday.

The feature event, the Mangora Plate, a class V division I & II combined handicap race to be contested over the sprinting distance of 1000m has a big field of 15 runners barring last-minute withdrawals. This looks a match between two thoroughbred colts.

They are three-year-old bay colt Amazing (Fearless Leader-Crepscule) and four-year-old bay colt Roman Charger. The former has scored a facile victory last Sunday while the latter has won two back to back races and will be going all out to complete a hat-trick of victories this time. On handicap Amazing has a slight advantage. Honest Bird and Better Case should fight for less remunerative positions. This will be the fifth race in racing order.

In the supporting and third race, the Swat Plate class VII division I to be run over 1200 metres, bay colt Dhandhana looks a cut above in class vis-a-vis his 12 rivals.

This half-bred colt from King Of Saxony out-of-Reema ran a superb race on July 6 over 1000m to win in a lower division.

On that performance he should not have any difficulty in making it two in-a-row provided he is sent with a will to do so.

Puma King and Morning Noor should fight for second and third positions among a dozen runners left in the field, if there are no last-minute withdrawals.

Victorious and Hot Press are the only two form animals in the opener, a class VII division III handicap race. They should fight it stride by stride to provide race fans some thrills. The remaining eight contestants have not shown any form worth consideration.

The second, fourth and sixth events are packed with four or more form sprinters. Some close finishes are likely to be expected in these races.

The first three races will be contested over 1200m while the other three over 1000m. The first race will be held at 3pm.
