KARACHI, July 19: Don’t Panic, the Strides By Strides - Kafioca sibling is on course for a hat trick, when the Summer Gymkhana Meeting gets under way at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.

Owned by Shah Mardan Shah II Pir Pagaro VII and trained by Mumtaz Ali, the dark bay four-year-old filly winning her last two outings quite comfortably with Sher Mohammad in the saddle, should overcome her 10 other rivals going over the sprinting distance of five furlongs in the last race on the afternoon’s programme.

Don’t Panic, should be followed home by Roberto Carlos Fan and Wonder Thunder, with last week’s winner Ray Of Light completing the frame.

A card of seven events have been drawn up on the programme, all to be contested over five furlongs.

The first race begins at 1-30 p.m.

Bang On Target, is another contender from the same stable that should not lose on Sunday afternoon.

The Shareek - Triple Salko three-year-old bay sibling, finished only 1 3/4 lengths behind Don’t Panic, after coming in with a rattling burst in the home stretch with promising rider M. Nasir astride.

Participating in the sixth event with 14 other runners also vying for the spoils, Bang On Target should be challenged throughout the race by Miss Shahzadi Erum’s thoroughbred dark bay colt Sardar, with the top weight bay gelding Recondition edging out another bay gelding Mischievous for the third spot.

In the opener, Richy Rich having stable rider Ali Asghar in the saddle, is fancied in these columns to get the better of the speedy Raysham and Major Dandy.

In the next race, Syed Taufiq Kamal’s thoroughbred bay horse Knight Gambler if called upon, should have no difficulty in overcoming the Royal Beauty and the bay mare Even Top.

Syed Ali Gohar Shah’s bay three-year-old filly Ceaser’s Palace looks a good thing to lower the colours of Superb Star and Lovely Concept, although another good filly Choti Moti is in that race.

The chestnut Sovero is another runner on course for a hat trick on Sunday.

In a big field of 18 runners in the fourth race, Sovero should gallop home to another victory for proud owner Irfan Mehdi, chased all the way past the winning post by Deniro and Knight Fighter, with Rajwar and Sweet Grandy joining the fray.

The grey mare Blue’s Night after a series of disappointing performances, should at last overcome those hurdles and cross the winning post in triumph ahead of Prince Of Arabia and Mystical.
