HYDERABAD, July 19: Sindh minister for sports and youth affairs Mohammad Naeem Ishtiaq and the adviser to the Sindh Chief Minister for home affairs, Aftab Ahmed Shaikh, have directed the civic bodies to clean the city on emergency basis.
They asked the district coordination officer (DCO) to set up emergency centres throughout the city to enable the public to register their complaints about the rain-related incidents. They said addresses and telephone numbers of the emergency centres should be publicised in the press.
They issued these instructions during their 5-hour tour of the city, Qasimabad and Latifabad talukas here on Friday.
They said emergency should be declared throughout the district and all leaves of the staff concerned should be cancelled to provide relief to the people during the monsoon season.
Members of the national and provincial assemblies, Prof Khalid Wahab, Arshad Shah, Shamim Akhtar, Farzana Saeed, Hyderabad DCO Mukhtar Ahmed Aziz, officials of the HDA and Wasa and EDOs of revenues and health, were also present on the occasion.
The minister and adviser visited Naseem Nagar, Bhittai Nagar, Soomro Goth, Old Wehdat Colony and unit number 2, 4, 5, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, Hali Road, Phulleli, Paretabad, Liaquat Colony, Kali Mori, the jail road and other areas.
