KARACHI, July 17: Officials of different departments of the city government who had taken leaves started returning to their duties on Thursday due to the emergency situation that has arisen after heavy rainfall.

City Nazim Naimatullah Khan and District Coordination Officer Mir Hussain Ali visited various localities and reviewed the conditions there.

When informed about dilapidation of the link road of the Business Recorder Road, they visited the spot and instructed the personnel concerned to immediately carry out repair work.

They also visited the Lyari river and reviewed the measures taken to cope with any emergency.

During his visit to various localities, the Naimatullah Khan was told that machines and pumps were being used to drain out the water accumulated on the roads after the rain on Wednesday.

Staff had been increased for ensuring prompt action on the complaints received at the city government’s Help Line, 134, officials told the Nazim.

They said the complaints were immediately forwarded to the official concerned.

#LINES AREA PROJECT:# During a meeting with officials of the Lines Area project and local people, the Nazim asked the officials concerned to present him a report about the attempts made by some people to occupy the land allotted for it.

The people of the area told the Nazim that an organization was trying to build boundary wall around the Grammar ground, which was included in the project, and occupy it.

According to them, it was the only ground in their area.

The Nazim assured them that no one would be allowed to encroach upon the land.

The people also apprised the Nazim about illegal construction near the Mubarak Shaheed Road. The DCO was also present.—PPI
