Petrol prices raised

KARACHI, July 15: The Oil Companies Advisory Committee (OCAC) has increased the prices of petrol by 33 paisa per litre to Rs31.52 from Rs 31.19 per litre. Pakistan State Oil (PSO) and Shell Pakistan Limited (SPL) have cut the prices of diesel by 39 paisa to Rs19.92 from Rs20.31 per litre.

The OCAC has also increased the prices of high octane blending component (HOBC) and kerosene oil by 90 and 11 paisa to Rs35.77 and Rs18.87 from Rs34.87 and Rs18.76 per litre respectively. However, the committee has curtailed the prices of light diesel oil (LDO) to Rs16.09 from Rs16.45 per litre, down by 36 paisa. The new prices will be effective from July 16 to 31.

The OCAC, in a statement, said that the product prices in the Persian Gulf region reflected a mixed trend during the fortnight under review. The average price of naphta increased by $9.23 per ton or 4.05 per cent, while the average price of kerosene rose by $0.39 per barrel or 1.49 per cent. The average exchange rate of the rupee remained stable against the dollar during the fortnight.

On June 30, the OCAC had increased the price of petrol by 36 paisa per litre. However, oil marketing companies had surged the diesel prices by 29 paisa.
