Abid Ali barred from camp

By Our Sports Reporter

ISLAMABAD, July 15: Abid Ali, son of former Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) secretary Ali Akbar, has been barred from attending the ongoing national junior under-16 camp because of prolonged absence, coach Mahboob Khan said on Tuesday.

“Firstly he joined the camp at least three days late and then after training for just one day remained absent for more than a week,” Mahboob said of Abid who returned to the camp on Tuesday morning.

The matter has been reported to the PTF for further action by the coach.

“The rules and regulations in this regard are clear as the boy was absent from the camp without seeking prior permission.”

Meanwhile the training of the boys at the camp being held at the PTF Complex is continuing under coaches Inamul Haq and Mahboob.

“We are adopting modern methods of coaching which cover tactical, technical and physical aspects,” Mahboob said.

Inam, a former Davis Cup player said that the boys were shaping up well and would get a good opportunity to test their skills in an All-Pakistan Juniors tournament which is to take place at the same venue later this month.
