LAHORE, July 15: Imran Khan has urged Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to restore its constitution and implement it forthwith.
Talking to journalists at the Gaddafi Stadium Imran said that the PCB had introduced new domestic structure and to give it protection the constitution was necessary.
Imran, under whose captaincy Pakistan won the World Cup in 1992, claimed that every institution needs constitution and PCB should also follow this principal.
PCB is running under the adhoc system since 1999.
Imran said that the newly formed regions, under the new domestic structure, should be given due representation in the PCB.
He suggested that International Cricket Council (ICC) should adopt the promotion and relegation system in the Test cricket.
Imran declared that the team like Bangladesh should be given two years to prove their strength, otherwise they will face the axe from the Test cricket.
Similarly, the top team of non-Test playing country should be promoted to the Test cricket for two years.
While replying to a question, Imran believed that Rashid Latif was a fighter but Pakistan needs a captain till World Cup-2007.
He said that as Rashid was not able to be the captain till World Cup, therefore, the PCB should resolved this matter as soon as possible.
Imran objected for Rashid act of writing a letter to the ICC on match-fixing and suggested he should bring it into the notice of PCB, first.
Imran said that Pakistan should win the home series against Bangladesh, New Zealand and South Africa which are being held this year.
“South Africa was a weak side but added in the presence of Shane Bond, Kiwis could put up a good fight”.
He spoke highly of Muhammad Sami and thought if he (Sami) kept himself fit, the pacer would be the next Malcolm Marshal.
