Final round starts today

LAHORE, July 14: Faisalabad will meet Rawalpindi in the opening match of the NBP-Punjab Inter-district Hockey Championship final round to be held at the National Hockey Stadium from Tuesday to Sunday.

Eight districts qualified for the final round after playing the preliminary round at four different centres.

 The districts participating are reigning champions Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Mianwali, Muzaffargarh (pool A), Dera Ghazi Khan, Vehari, Narowal and Rahimyar Khan (pool ‘B’).

Surprisingly, hosts Lahore and Toba Tek Singh, two districts considered as the nursery of hockey failed to qualify for the round.

Draws:

July 15: Faisalabad vs Rawalpindi; Mianwali vs Muzaffargarh; Rahimyar Khan, vs D G Khan; Vehari vs Narowal.

July 16: Faisalabad vs Mianwali; Muzaffargarh vs Mianwali; Rahimyar Khan vs Narowal; Dera Ghazi Khan vs Vehari.

July 17: Faisalabad vs Muzaffargarh; Mianwali vs Rawalpindi; Vehari vs Rahimyar Khan; Narowal vs D G Khan.

July 18: Rest day.

July 19: Semifinals.

July 20: Final.
