Faisal terms Quetta killings a sabotage

By Our Staff Correspondent

QUETTA, July 14: Federal Interior Minister Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat has termed the recent terrorist acts in Quetta a spillover of instability in Afghanistan and ongoing war against terrorism, saying that investigation in this regard was “at an advanced stage”.

Speaking to newsmen after his meeting with Balochistan Chief Minister and the other officials concerned, he said situation in Afghanistan was not stable.

“Instability in Afghanistan is affecting Pakistan and recent incidents were spillover of Afghan situation,” Syed Faisal Hayat said and added that Islamabd had asked Afghanistan to improve situation and take steps for stopping the activities affecting Pakistan.

“Pakistan is playing an effective role against terrorism and will not allow any individual or organization to use its soil for committing terrorism,” he said, adding:”We also want other countries specially Afghanistan and other neighbours to fulfil their duties in this regard”.

Replying to a question, he said negotiations were under way with Afghanistan to check criminal activities affecting the law and order situation in Pakistan.

“We want to restore the sense of protection as soon possible among the people of Balochistan, specially the people of Quetta,” Syed Faisal Hayat said and added that in this connection, the federal government had extended more help and resources to the Balochistan government.
