KARACHI: 269 Indian fishermen freed


KARACHI, July 14: As many as 269 jailed fishermen, who came from India, have been released along with their 25 captured boats.

The Indian fishermen are expected to leave for India next week after the repair of all boats.

The spokesman for the Fishermen Cooperative Society said that out of 269 fishermen 50 had been allowed to repair their boats. He said, “They have completed the repair of six boats.”

The spokesman said that 23 boats were in Karachi while one each at Gadani and Sonmiyani, which would also be brought here to complete the fleet.

Meanwhile, the vice-chairman of FCS, Abuzar Mariwala, visited the fishermen and assured them of all help to ensure their safe and timely departure. — APP
